Differentiation Differentiation in teaching and learning, in the specification and in related assessment arrangements, is essential in order to cater for and meet the needs of all learners. Politics and Society provides numerous opportunities for teachers to teach the subject and select content so that it directly meets the needs and interests of all learners. The focus on active and participatory learning which is central to Politics and Society means that learners can be engaged in learning activities that most directly match their own needs and ways of learning. Differentiation can also be applied to the content addressed in class. The content matter of the course is specified in broad terms to allow the selection and exploration of topics in ways that are of most interest and relevance to the lives of the learners. In common with other specifications , Politics and Society will be assessed at both Higher and Ordinary levels.
