The specification for Junior Cycle Modern Foreign Languages is designed for a minimum of 200 hours of timetabled student engagement and aims to develop communicative language proficiency broadly aligned with the A band (A1 to A2, basic user) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, teaching, assessment ( CEFR

Modern languages short courses in junior cycle: 
In addition to the Junior Cycle Modern Foreign Languages specification for French, German, Italian and Spanish, the following short courses are available to students in junior cycle:
