Preparation for Learning, Teaching and Assessment
To support teachers in primary and special schools, guidance has been developed collaboratively by the Department of Education and Youth including the inspectorate, schools/teachers, the NCCA, the NCSE, and OIDE. The Guidance aims to support all teachers and school leaders by providing a renewed understanding of how planning and preparation for learning, teaching and assessment is demonstrated in the classroom. The updated 2026 guidance for all Primary and Special Schools responds to reflect the full redeveloped Primary Curriculum context.
